Aesthetic software, compared honestly: the best aesthetic clinic software in the UK (2026)

By Junaid — founder, Appointbox · Reviewed July 2026 · Clinical review pending · Last updated 28 July 2026

Every guide to clinic software is written by a software company, and nearly every one crowns itself — often in a numbered list with its own product at #1. This one is also written by a software company: we make Appointbox, so we're biased, and we'll be upfront about it. The deal that keeps this page useful: real prices, real review scores with their sample sizes, and a plain statement of who each system genuinely suits — including where a rival beats us. If you leave and choose a competitor because they fit you better, this guide did its job.

Ratings shown with platform and sample size deliberately: a 4.9 from 1,222 reviews and a 4.3 from 17 are not the same kind of evidence.

How we compared (and our bias, stated): Scope: UK medical-aesthetics clinical software — systems built for prescriber-led clinics with clinical records and consent. Method: each vendor's own published pages, independent review platforms (Capterra, G2, Trustpilot, app stores) with scores quoted only alongside their counts and dates, and credible third-party reviews for figures vendors don't publish — all verified July 2026, re-checked at each update stamp. Our bias: we built Appointbox because we believe transparent flat pricing and start-today access matter; you'll see that preference in how we weigh things. Judge accordingly.

The seven, honestly

Pabau — the breadth leader

The category's most established platform, and it earns the position: AI Scribe writes consultation notes in real time, injection plotting deducts stock automatically, e-prescribing carries drug-interaction checks, and the integration list runs past thirty (Stripe, Xero, Healthcode for UK insurer claims, CloudRx, SignatureRx, Zoom, HubSpot). Capterra 4.7/5 across 600+ reviews is the deepest credible sample in the category, and Pabau states 3,500+ practices worldwide (vendor claim). The honest trade-offs, drawn from those same reviews: per-user pricing that grows with headcount, a demo-led sales process, implementation measured in weeks (4–6 is commonly reported), and cost pressure if you only need the core.

Best for: multi-location groups with a practice manager who'll configure its depth. Weakest at: solo economics and time-to-running.

Consentz — consent-first, UK-framed

Built by an aesthetic doctor around the consent workflow: pre-loaded treatment-specific consent templates, mandatory-consent protocols with built-in warnings, tamper-proof audit trails, iPad signatures, injectable batch/stock linkage — and ISO 27001 accreditation, rare at this end of the market. The honest caveats: pricing transparency is partial (their own pages state both "from £49" and "typically £79"). Third-party listings add a wrinkle: Gartner's directories (Capterra UK, GetApp, SoftwareAdvice) list Consentz at "£49.00 per feature, per month". Worth asking Consentz directly whether the price is flat or climbs with each feature you switch on. (Capterra UK, 2026) And one theme recurs in Consentz's own published reviews: a verified user of more than two years described being unable to retrieve older consent forms. If consent retrieval matters to your inspection readiness, ask about it before you sign. (Capterra)

Best for: clinics that want consent to be the system's spine. Weakest at: pricing clarity and independent proof.

Clinicminds — the AI documentarian

European-built by aesthetic physicians, with the strongest AI documentation story in the set: Quinn AI transcribes and summarises consultations — in person and video — in multiple languages. Supports injectables through to laser and medical weight-management. The honest caveats: pricing is demo-walled ("from €160/month", quote-based), and the independent review footprint is effectively zero (no Capterra reviews; a handful on Trustpilot). One warning for your own research: don't confuse it with "ClinicMind", an unrelated US billing/EHR product.

Best for: documentation-heavy clinics working multilingually. Weakest at: price transparency and independent evidence.

MERIDIQ — the light starter

Swedish, simple, genuinely cheap: a free booking tier with no time limit, records from roughly £22/user/month, modular add-ons, no setup fee, no lock-in, running in minutes. Trustpilot 4.2/5 from 13 reviews — thin, like most at this end.

Best for: a solo practitioner who wants the basics handled for the least money. Weakest at: depth — you'll feel its limits as the clinic grows, and it isn't built for multi-site.

ANS — the nurse-built original

Built by an aesthetic nurse for aesthetic nurses, and the focus shows: facial mapping with injection points, LOT/batch and expiry recording, medical-history forms patients complete at home, at £25–£50 +VAT/month with all practitioners included. We compete with ANS directly and we'd still say it plainly: for a solo nurse content with a starter system, it's fair value, and switching costs may outweigh the gains. The honest caveats: no independent review score we could find on any major platform, light reporting, and its vendor-claimed scale figures are inconsistent between its own pages.

Best for: solo nurse prescribers wanting cheap and purpose-built. Weakest at: growing beyond one provider, and independent proof.

Faces — the free front door

The most-reviewed product in UK aesthetics — Trustpilot 4.9/5 from 1,222 reviews (July 2026), with the company answering every negative review — built on a free core: consent forms, booking, aftercare and client management at no monthly cost, plus a pharmacy/prescriber marketplace that makes it many injectors' first system. The honest caveats: deposits carry a per-transaction fee (1.8% + VAT + 20p), app-store reviews flag bugs (multi-treatment pricing, forms named by product rather than treatment class), and as clinics mature most outgrow a freemium tool built around consent rather than clinic operations.

Best for: new injectors starting today for free. Weakest at: being the system a grown clinic runs on.

Appointbox — ours, so read with the bias disclosed

Built prescriber-first for the clinic's whole day: online booking with deposits, a waitlist that refills cancellations in order, patient records with consent versioned to every visit, a daily NMC PIN check for nurse prescribers, the Today view each morning, and video consultations for follow-ups and aftercare (never the initial prescribing consultation — the NMC's face-to-face rule, in force since 1 June 2025, is built into the workflow). Every price published: £39 solo, £99 flat to five, £199 per location for up to 15 practitioners — every feature in every plan, 30-day no-card trial, cancel-and-export-anytime, free done-for-you migration. The honest caveats, because everyone else got theirs: we're the newest entrant, our integration list is shorter than Pabau's, and we have no review score yet — our proof is transparency and methodology until our founding clinics say otherwise.

Best for: prescriber-led clinics that want one flat-priced system and to start today. Weakest at: track record — we're earning it.

How to choose: five questions that sort it

  1. Who holds the diary today? If it's you, personally, in the evenings — weight diary automation and waitlist refill heavily.
  2. What does the price do when you grow? Ask every vendor for the cost at double your team. Per-user pricing charges you for succeeding.
  3. Can you see the full price without a call? Two of the seven above can't answer that. It tells you how the relationship will run.
  4. Will the records survive scrutiny? Versioned consent tied to the treatment, exportable anytime — ask to see it, whoever you're considering.
  5. How thick is the proof? Read the review counts, not just the stars — a 4.3 from 17 and a 4.7 from 600 are different claims.

FAQ

What is the best software for an aesthetic clinic?

There's no single best — there's best fit. The evidence above points to: Pabau for multi-location depth (4.7/5, 600+ Capterra reviews), Faces for a free start (4.9/5, 1,222 Trustpilot reviews), ANS or MERIDIQ for the cheapest solo setups, Consentz for consent-centric workflows, Clinicminds for AI documentation, and Appointbox for prescriber-led clinics wanting one flat-priced system they can start today.

How much does aesthetic clinic software cost in the UK?

Verified July 2026: free (Faces core; MERIDIQ booking tier) → £25–£50+VAT (ANS) → ~£49–79 (Consentz solo, per their own pages) → ~£49–62/user equivalent (Pabau, per-user, demo-configured) → €160+ (Clinicminds, quote-based) → Appointbox at £39 Solo / £99 flat (up to 5) / £199 per location, published. Per-user models rise with headcount; flat models don't.

Which aesthetic clinic software has the best reviews?

By sample depth: Faces (Trustpilot 4.9/5, 1,222) and Pabau (Capterra 4.7/5, 600+) are the only two with statistically meaningful independent samples. Consentz (17 reviews), MERIDIQ (13) and Clinicminds (~5) are too thin to lean on, and ANS shows no independent score — worth knowing before you weigh a star rating.
